The most unique part of being an American is our freedom of speech. If we disagree with politics, we can voice our opinion. Because of the recent environment caused by Sept. 11, Iraq war, and so on, many US citizens have many opposing feelings on issues. A lot of hostility can arise out of our freedom of speech with one another. Anyone who dares voice their opinion may receive more feedback than they were ready for these days. I have noticed in chat rooms, online forums, and blogs that people are so fast to get angry with one another. Throwing around the "...if you don't support (fill in the blank here) you are NOT American." Deep down, I know that to disagree, and to voice one's opinion no matter how much of a minority one's opinion may be, is being a full fledged American. Wanting things to be different, for life to be better for oneself is natural. But to call these minorities "un-American" is hostile, and wrong. Many writers, actors, comedians, and other public persona are under attack for opposing the war, or some other personal view. I cannot believe how fast we all turn on one another in the name of being a good American. I guess there is always danger just around the corner.
